2018 South Sound Partners for Philanthropy Officers


President – Natalie Skovran, Family Support Center of South Sound

Natalie serves as the Deputy Director at the Family Support Center of South Sound. Natalie has a background in domestic violence advocacy, volunteer coordination, and program development. Natalie has a Master’s of Science in Human Services from the University of Massachusetts Boston and an undergraduate degree in Women’s Studies from Simmons College. Contact Natalie.

Vice President – Anne Larsen, EventSupport, LLC

Anne is the COO of EventSupport, LLC, an event management company assisting nonprofit organizations with their fundraising events. Formerly the Development Director at the SPSCC Foundation, Anne has been active in the nonprofit community for many years. She previously worked with the Hands On Children’s Museum and the Washington Center for the Performing Arts. She has also participated as a Trustee/Director with the Olympia School District Education Foundation, the Olympia Downtown Association, and Providence St. Peter Hospital Foundation Executive Committee. Treasurer – Blake Chard, Exceptional Foresters

Over 30 years of experience in state and local government with four years as Deputy Secretary of the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS),  Blake has a Master of Public Administration from Brigham Young University. Before moving to Washington eleven years ago, Blake was the Director of Utah’s Division of Juvenile Justice Services and served four terms as a Utah State Representative.  Blake most recently worked as a legislative liaison with two different state agencies. Blake became Exceptional Foresters CEO in 2014. Contact Blake.

Luncheon Committee Chair - Mike Leonard, United Way of Thurston County 

Mike Leonard, Director of Development, United Way of Thurston County. After a 30 year career in the newspaper business, Mike started his non-profit career with United Way of Pierce County in 2013, and joined the United Way of Thurston County team in January of 2016. In addition to his board commitment to South Sound Partners for Philanthropy, Mike is a member of Gateway Rotary, Lacey Chamber of Commerce, and Church Council Chair at First United Methodist Church of Olympia. 

Mike is married to Kathy Leonard, and has two grown children, Garrett and Shea. A graduate of Washington State University, Mike is a 32 year resident of Thurston County. His hobbies include cycling, golf, volunteering at his church, and thrift shopping for golf and sports memorabilia. Mike and Kathy now share their home with their 10-month old Labrador, Olive.  Contact Mike.

Past President - Katya Miltimore, Boys & Girls Clubs of Thurston County

Katya Milimore, MS, serves as Executive Director of Boys & Girls Clubs of Thurston County.  Her previous experience includes working in Resource Development for Boys & Girls Clubs and South Puget Sound Community College Foundation.  Prior to non-profit service, Katya spent 8 years in the for-profit sector, focusing on sales management and corporate human resources.  Katya earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from The Evergreen State College and completed graduate studies in Management and Leadership at Western Governors University.  Katya, her husband and two daughters live in Olympia, WA and enjoy travel and spending lots of time together. Contact Katya.

Marketing Committee Chair – Sheila Kavanaugh, South Sound Parent to Parent

Sheila is the Development Director for South Sound Parent to Parent.  She has been working in the nonprofit community for over ten years.  Sheila has been an active member of South Sound Partners for Philanthropy since 2014. Contact Sheila.

At Large Seat —Amy Jackson, Junior League of Olympia

Amy has been an active member of the League since 2011. Since moving to the Olympia area 12 years ago, she has been a part of many different community organizations including: South Sound Partners for Philanthropy, Touch a Truck, Mockingbird Christmas party, Sand in the City and an Evergreen Christian School Parent Teacher Ministry (PTM) board member. Amy holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Pacific Lutheran University. Before having her son, Amy was a successful Sales Executive at Walter E Nelson company, having won Sales Executive of the year in 1998. Contact Amy.

Education Committee Chair - Jill Rose, Jill Rose, Pierce County AIDS Foundation

 CFRE, serves as the Development and Communications Director at PCAF (Pierce County AIDS Foundation). Jill has devoted her career to the nonprofit sector, working primarily in grassroots social justice and social service organizations. Jill received a BA from the Evergreen State College and focused her studies on Community Studies and Social Work. Jill is an active volunteer and board member for Camp Victory, and also serves on the board of the Nonprofit Leadership Conference for Coastal and Southwest Washington. In her spare time, Jill enjoys travel and rockhounding adventures with her partner, live music, and gardening. Contact Jill.

Secretary - Shawna Dutton, South Sound Habitat for Humanity

Shawna Dutton serves as the Marketing and Development Manager for South Puget Sound Habitat for Humanity here in Thurston County.  Prior to joining South Puget Sound Habitat for Humanity in August of 2014, Shawna was the Business Relations Marketing Lead at Better Business Bureau. 

Shawna began her career as a small business owner. Along with her husband Chris, they successfully ran a custom tailored sport-fishing and sightseeing charter business in SE Alaska in from 2006-2011, while also attending Western Washington University. 

In addition to working with Habitat for Humanity, Shawna is also active in the Junior League of Olympia and Rotary.
