2017 South Sound Partners for Philanthropy Officers

President - Katya Miltimore, Boys & Girls Clubs of Thurston County

Katya Milimore, MS, serves as Executive Director of Boys & Girls Clubs of Thurston County.  Her previous experience includes working in Resource Development for Boys & Girls Clubs and South Puget Sound Community College Foundation.  Prior to non-profit service, Katya spent 8 years in the for-profit sector, focusing on sales management and corporate human resources.  Katya earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from The Evergreen State College and completed graduate studies in Management and Leadership at Western Governors University.  Katya, her husband and two daughters live in Olympia, WA and enjoy travel and spending lots of time together. Vice President – Natalie Moran, Family Support Center of South Sound

Natalie serves as the Deputy Director at the Family Support Center of South Sound. Natalie has a background in domestic violence advocacy, volunteer coordination, and program development. Natalie has a Master’s of Science in Human Services from the University of Massachusetts Boston and an undergraduate degree in Women’s Studies from Simmons College. Contact Natalie.

Treasurer – Blake Chard, Exceptional Foresters

Over 30 years of experience in state and local government with four years as Deputy Secretary of the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS),  Blake has a Master of Public Administration from Brigham Young University. Before moving to Washington eleven years ago, Blake was the Director of Utah’s Division of Juvenile Justice Services and served four terms as a Utah State Representative.  Blake most recently worked as a legislative liaison with two different state agencies. Blake became Exceptional Foresters CEO in 2014. Contact Blake.

Secretary – Anne Larsen, SPSCC Foundation

Anne Larsen serves as the Development Manager at the SPSCC Foundation.  Anne has been active in the nonprofit community for many years, previously working with the Hands On Children’s Museum and the Washington Center for the Performing Arts.  She has also participated as a Trustee/Director with the Olympia School District Education Foundation, the Olympia Downtown Association, and Providence St. Peter Hospital Foundation Executive Committee. Past President / Membership Committee Chair – Deborah Vinsel, Thurston Community Media

Deborah is the  the CEO at Thurston community Media.  In addition to running this nonprofit media center, she serves on the board directors at the  Washington Center for the Performing Arts, and the Alliance for Communtiy Media Northwest Region. Deborah has been a member of the Partners Executive Committee for the past six years as the Treasurer and President. Contact Deborah.

Marketing Committee Chair – Sheila Kavanaugh, South Sound Parent to Parent

Sheila is the Development Director for South Sound Parent to Parent.  She has been working in the nonprofit community for over ten years.  Sheila has been an active member of South Sound Partners for Philanthropy and Women United (formerly Women’s Leadership Council of Thurston County) since 2014. Education Committee Chair—Amy Jackson, Junior League of Olympia

Amy has been an active member of the League since 2011. Since moving to the Olympia area 12 years ago, she has been a part of many different community organizations including: South Sound Partners for Philanthropy, Touch a Truck, Mockingbird Christmas party, Sand in the City and an Evergreen Christian School Parent Teacher Ministry (PTM) board member. Amy holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Pacific Lutheran University. Before having her son, Amy was a successful Sales Executive at Walter E Nelson company, having won Sales Executive of the year in 1998. Contact Amy.

Luncheon Committee Chair – Jocelyn Wood, Washington Center for the Performing Arts

Jocelyn is the Development Director for the Washington Center for the Performing Arts. She has been in non-profit fundraising for over 15 years. Contact Jocelyn.


At Large Seat: Mike Leonard, United Way of Thurston County 

Mike Leonard, Director of Development, United Way of Thurston County. After a 30 year career in the newspaper business, Mike started his non-profit career with United Way of Pierce County in 2013, and joined the United Way of Thurston County team in January of 2016. In addition to his board commitment to South Sound Partners for Philanthropy, Mike is a member of Gateway Rotary, Lacey Chamber of Commerce, and Church Council Chair at First United Methodist Church of Olympia. 

Mike is married to Kathy Leonard, and has two grown children, Garrett and Shea. A graduate of Washington State University, Mike is a 32 year resident of Thurston County. His hobbies include cycling, golf, volunteering at his church, and thrift shopping for golf and sports memorabilia. Mike and Kathy now share their home with their 10-month old Labrador, Olive.  Contact Mike.
